Now that the fall semester has begun and students are actively working toward their education and career goals at HFCC, I want to begin this new issue of CareerFocus<\/i> by expressing thanks on behalf of the College for your continuous, unwavering support of this fine institution. Your commitment truly sets HFCC apart.<\/p>\n

As many of you know, 2013 is HFCC\u2019s 75th birthday, an important mark in the history of this exceptional institution. We are blessed to call Dearborn our home and are extremely humbled by the support our community provides the College every day. Most importantly, we are very proud of the success our students achieve and look forward to welcoming them back home whenever they visit campus.<\/p>\n

To help celebrate our 75th year, we are planning a series of events during the 2013-2014 academic year. This year-long celebration began with our annual Foundation Dinner, which took place Oct. 18 on campus. We welcomed many of our esteemed supporters, friends, colleagues and community leaders to campus, and enjoyed dinner prepared by our culinary students and faculty chefs. I want to personally thank all of our guests for joining us in support of our students and the College.<\/p>\n

This year is also one in which we begin to re-imagine a new sense of excellence. Our name sake\u2014Henry Ford\u2014was an individual who was constantly reimagining how to do things innovatively, and how to challenge and educate his workforce while providing products the world wanted and needed. We take his example as a model for our community by offering hundreds of career training and education programs geared toward a lifetime of career and personal success.\u00a0 We will always seek to improve the quality of an HFCC education to ensure that students receive the training they need to take on new positions in hundreds of industry sectors.<\/p>\n

To support this effort, our dual academies\u2014Henry Ford Early College (HFEC) and the Collegiate Academy\u2014offer a tremendous opportunity to our students to begin their college career while still enrolled in high school. Recently, Henry Ford Early College earned a ranking in the 99th percentile of the Top-to-Bottom rankings of Michigan Schools. Today, the HFEC is among the top four schools in Wayne County and the only high school in that group. But perhaps one of the best aspects of the dual academy model is that students can begin their college careers early and graduate with a college degree debt-free.<\/p>\n

On behalf of the entire HFCC family, I hope you enjoy this issue of CareerFocus<\/i>. We look forward to serving you now and long into the future.<\/p>\n
