In early 2016, the HFC Social Science, Arts & Fitness Division launched a one-year Recording Arts Certification (RAC) program.<\/p>\n

The RAC program is for non-traditional music students who want to gain experience in the recording industry, where they learn how to produce and record music, according to Randall Knight, an HFC music instructor and the former associate dean of Social Science, Arts & Fitness Division. The RAC program is also open to traditional music students as well.<\/p>\n

\"studio<\/a>

Through the new RAC program, students receive hands-on experience in the College\u2019s state-of-the-art recording studio using the latest industry-grade equipment.<\/p><\/div>\n

\u201cOur state-of-the-art digital recording studio is fully equipped to provide students with a hands-on, real-life experience. After completing the one-year program, students will be able to walk into a professional studio and contribute immediately. They\u2019ll also be fully prepared to set up and run their own professional studio, communicate with artists at a professional level, and record and master production level recordings,\u201d said Knight.<\/p>\n

\"HFC_grammy_winner\"<\/a><\/p>\n

In late November 2015, HFC welcomed back to its campus Grammy-winning recording artist\/music producer Noel Fisher, known professionally in the music industry as Detail.<\/p>\n

During his visit, Detail spoke with students and also received a recording from HFC students and alumni for his rendition of the classic holiday song \u201cThe First Noel\u201d for his Christmas CD \u201cDetail Presents Noel.\u201d While on campus, Detail also spoke to students about what it takes to make it in the music business.<\/p>\n

A Detroit native, Detail is no stranger to HFC. He attended from 1998-2002 and took music and telecommunication courses. When he needed a classical version of \u201cThe First Noel,\u201d his first thought was the HFC Music Dept.<\/p>\n

Detail has been active in the music scene since late 2005. He gained recognition as a producer when collaborating with R&B singer Ray J to produce the majority of Ray J\u2019s third album \u201cRaydiation.\u201d He has also worked with other renowned musical artists, most notably Beyonc\u00e9, Ashanti, Jennifer Lopez, R. Kelly, Lady Gaga, Brandy, Christina Aguilera, Lil Wayne, the Pussycat Dolls and Snoop Dogg.<\/p>\n

Detail produced\/co-wrote the single \u201cDrunk in Love,\u201d which earned him his first Grammy Award at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards in 2015. Beyonc\u00e9 and her husband, Rapper Jay-Z, performed this song at the Grammys, where it won best R&B song. It was also featured on Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s 2013 album called \u201cBeyonc\u00e9.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was great seeing Noel again. When he was a student, he understood that to make it in the music business you have to really want it. That\u2019s the same message he delivered to our students,\u201d said Knight.<\/p>\n
